Does it matter that my GF had to leave the country to apply and receive her Tier 2 visa in terms of evidencing 2 years of continuous cohabitation? She was only out of the country for 5-6 weeks in total I think.

Hi CR001 / anyone that knows,

Will I need to get a new DBS check before applying for my dependent visa if I want to continue working as a Physio? The official info is so unclear regarding this but I would assume this would only be essential after applying for a new job.

Also I’ll finally be submitting my application next week after coming back from abroad. I’ve read as much as I can to be prepared and give myself the best chance of success. My main concerns comes back to one of the first paragraphs mentioned in the guidance:

You can apply for limited leave to remain as a PBS Dependant or Appendix W Worker dependant if you meet the criteria set out in this guidance and the Immigration Rules and you are:
• the family member of a person with, or applying for, leave under Tier 1, 2, 4 or 5 of the Points Based System or Appendix W; or
• the spouse or partner of a person with indefinite leave to remain or British Citizenship who last held leave in Tier 1, 2, or 5 of the Points Based System or Appendix W and you do not yet qualify for indefinite leave to remain; or

Is this just confusing wording? I am not a family member of the main applicant and my partner does not have ILR or British Citizenship. She only has temporary leave as a sponsored worker.

Why would they leave this out as a possibility?

As a PARTNER, even unmarried, you are a 'family member'!! The bold red above applies to you.

Note that a PBS Dependent can continue on the dependent route if the main PBS partner has got ILR or British citizenship, hence the reference to that above.

Hey CR001,

1. Do I need to scan and upload every page of my passport? Is there somewhere where I need to list my entire travel history?, and

2. Does my GF need to attend the biometrics appointment? Or can I go alone?

I'm in the process of uploading all my documents onto the UKVCAS site prior to my appointment on Wednesday.

Thanks so much for your help so far..

1. Travel history not required. Most I believe have uploaded stamped pages but I am not sure.

2. You can go alone.

Hi CR001,

I am uploading my documents on the UKVCAS site.

There are a number of optional category types to load my documents. Some are self-explanatory like ‘Residence in the UK’, ‘Finances’, and ‘Medical information’. Some do not apply to me such as ‘Proof of business’.

Have you any idea what I may have to upload in the ‘Proof of application’ category?? And is there any need to submit a cover letter in the ‘Other’ section?

Yep that’s fine.

I just mean if you think there is anything in particular I need to include in the ‘Proof of application’ category?

There doesn’t seem to be any formal way of submitting all the documents. I just upload them. Will they submit / send them off after the biometrics interview?

Does anyone know how long it should take to get a confirmation email from UKVI to say they’ve received my application?

I had my biometrics testing on Wednesday where they submitted all my documents etc. As I said on another thread it didn’t exactly fill me with confidence as he thought I should have only submitted the documents listed on my application form (passport, BRP, proof of funds).

Thank God for this forum.

You don't get a confirmation letter or email.

Ok thanks. Do I not get a reference number or anything from UKVI to chase the status of my application or address any other queries?

If not, do I just need to wait for them now to make a decision and get back to me?

You can chase your application status. You have to wait to hear back from ho.

If ho have questions, they will likely write to you.

Just an update on my case.

I submitted all my documents and had my biometrics taken on 5th June at Croydon. I paid for the standard service.

I received my approval letter 2 weeks later on the 19th.

They attempted to deliver my BRP on the 26th but I wasn’t at home. Picked it up today from the depot.

So all in all it took roughly 3.5 weeks from my appointment to having the BRP in my hands! I think I am very lucky time-wise considering the expected wait and feedback from others.

I can’t thank this site, especially CR001 for all the help!! Definitely made it a smoother process all round.
