Hello Experts,
My wife is on dependent visa and planning to apply 10 yrs long residence ILR along with me.
She needs to appear for IELTS. But I am not able to understand which IELTS exam will be suitable for her.
As per UKBA and
https://www.ielts.org the below is required:
Visa description:
Indefinite leave to remain (to settle) or citizenship B1
Skills:
Speaking and Listening
IELTS test and minimum score:
IELTS Life Skills at B1 – Pass
IELTS for UKVI(2) – 4.0 in Speaking and Listening
(2) IELTS for UKVI can be used where IELTS Life Skills is required. Test takers would need to a score of 4.0 or above in Speaking and Listening (scores for Reading and Writing will be ignored).
However, there is also
IELTS General Training exam.
Which one she should appear?
What is the difference?
Which one is easy?
Please guide.
Thanks,
Suvendu

This one as it clearly states the purpose it is for!!

Not this one.

https://www.trinitycollege.com/site/?id=3220
However, I am not able to find the
B1 SELT – GESE Grade 5 exam in the UKBA approved list:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... y_2019.pdf
As per the approved list,
SELT ISEI Reading: Pass; Listening:Pass; Speaking: Pass; Writing: Pass is required which is look like

I am not tagging. But I think the information passed in the other but similar topic is somehow misleading.

It is not misleading.
She can do any B1 test on the HO approved list that meets the requirement for ILR, i.e. trinity or IELTS.

Confusion.
HO document says, SELT Level:
B1 and Min Grade required:
ISEI .
Then how does
"B1 SELT – GESE Grade 5" exam meets the ILR requirement? Shouldn't it be
"B1 SELT – ISE I" ?
Please help..
Thanks,
Suvendu

You really are trying to split hairs.
She can do Trinity B1 GESE test OR the Trinity B1 ISEI test OR the B1 IELTS SELT for UKVI test OR the B1 IELTS SELT Consortium Life Skills. ANY of them are suitable. It is not a case of only ONE is the correct one.

Apologies. But HO document says Trinity "B1-ISE-I" as min grade required. Not the Trinity "B1-GESE".
Please check the first row of the table 1 (Column 5 - Min grade) in the HO document.
Or am I overthinking ?

It also says further down GESE Grade 5.
You are overthinking and possibly not reading the table correctly. Each row is a test that HO accepts. She simply needs the B1 of one of the tests on the list.
The B1 IESI is not the ONLY one, it is the minimum grade specifically for that test stated on that row of the table.

Thanks a lot. All sorted.
