Hi all
I have fallen fowel of the RoA and right to work confusion... I was told I can travel in and out of the UK on my nz passport as long as I had an old passport with my RoA certificate in it. This meant I assumed that it would work the same as proof for Right to Work... No it doesn't...
I left a good job to go to a new one and after two days of working I was asked to stop working as my passport didn't have the RoA certificate in it as it was in an expired passport....
I am now unable to work even though I have spoken to an immigration lawyer who confirmed i still have the right to work in the UK.. I just lost the proof to prove it until my passport gets back from the home Office..... I am currently struggling with dwp to get my rent paid etc as they too are questioning my status
Anyway... does anyone have any up to date information on how long the renewal process is taking? I know it says 6 months but I'm hoping it will be a lot sooner as I need to get back to work asap....
I am still sorting this out and waiting.... turns out the Job Centre are now questioning my status and are holding up payments even though my partner and my two kids have British passports.. I ended up going to the local MPs office and they had a magic direct dial number to the home office!! They have requested that it gets processed asap.... they even said they are happy to confirm that I have the right to work if an employer would like to ring them at the MPs office.....
No passport back yet...... waiting.....
On a positive I hopefully will be in employment again Next week!! But it's not helping me with the loss of earnings which has been 6 weeks now and no money...
Hardest time I've ever had to endure... no food, no rent paid, no bus fair for my son To get to college.... It's crazy
