Dependant visa to Work permit

Post by tan383 » Thu Jul 24, 2008 2:43 pm

Hi,
I am on dependant work permit visa with no restriction on working.
I have got a job offer & the employer is ready to sponser my work permit.

Question -
Is it possible to switch to Work permit on dependant visa while I am UK or I will have to back to my native country to apply for WP?

Thanks CoolestGuyC,

So what will happen in case:
I accept the employment on dependant visa, work for time till WP is valid (2 years), go back to native country:
- on VACATION & file my own WP or
- RESIGN from current company, file WP & come back to same company?

Regards,
Tan

This approach should work. You can go midway also, i.e. any time before your WP dependent visa expires.

If you follow above approach, you will have a strong point in your ec application from home country, that you have a ongoing job in uk which you can immediately join.

I dont think a resignation would be necessary.

Work permits have to be used six months from the date that they were issued, and the employer has to file the work permit application.

business and commercial guidance

The new points based system is also being introduced later this year.
