Document Submission by Sponsor at VFS London - Spouse Visa

Post by teg1609 » Tue Dec 10, 2019 11:10 pm

I am planning to submit all of our supporting documentation for my wife at the VFS centre in London (she is applying for the spouse visa outside of the UK).

Since everything is going to be digitalised anyway, is it ok that we scan documents that are themselves copies (provided the quality is retained)? For example, I have scanned copies of every page of my wife's current passport, and all her previous passports, as well a certified translation of our marriage certificate - is it ok if I submit this documentation by just scanning the copies at the VFS centre in London, or will they expect me to have the originals?

If originals are required, can I partially submit our supporting documents in London, with my wife taking the remaining originals (her current & previous passports) to be scanned when she attends her biometric appointment in her home country?

Many thanks in advance.

Follow up question: for me (the sponsor) to submit the documents at the drop in centre in London, do I need to do this before or after my wife's biometrics appointment (i've read conflicting information on this)?

I understand I need to include the UKVI document checklist with this document submission, but it explicitly states on the form that this cannot be signed by the applicant until their biometrics appointment? So i assume I can't submit our supporting documentation before this appointment? However, elsewhere I've read that I should submit beforehand?

Additionally, if I am only submitting our supporting documentation after the biometrics appointment, what does my wife and the VFS submission officer sign the form for at the biometrics appointment? Only to register an intention (for me, the sponsor) to submit the listed supporting documents?

Perhaps I'm missing a key bit of guidance on the VFS website but it seems a bit backwards, and not at all obvious what the correct sequencing should be. Thanks in advance.
