Correct yes.Would be great if someone can confirm this: If we have a child born outside the UK, the child will have BC by descent (from my naturalised partner).
Correct yes.But their children (our grandchildren), if they are born outside the UK, will not automatically have BC?
That suggests that the child will not automatically be a British citizen, but will need to be registered as a British citizen, probably also requiring a period of stay in the UK and both parents meeting other criteria.Nationality and Travel
If the family should subsequently wish to return to the UK, they must apply for entry clearance in respect of the child or make a separate application for British Citizenship. They may consult the Home Office for more information.
