Long stay Category D Visa & Covid19

Dear Members,
Would any of you be able to shed some light on travel to Ireland with long stay category D visa(join spouse). are the holders of this category allowed to travel to Ireland in current situation?

its not the returning residents but newly issued visa holders.
if any of you know someone who may have been in this situation and travelled recently or vice versa ?

Yes. All D visa holders are allowed to travel to Ireland.

Thanks littler for your reply. would you know if the airlines can ask any further clarification/documents before boarding in case of newly issued D category long stay visas?

No. You just need to have a valid passport with a valid Type D visa for the airline.
However, in order to get into Ireland, you will also need to show to the immigration officer other documents that proves your relationship to the sponsor in Ireland.
