Charges of applying for Australia Immigration

Post by AkashS » Tue Aug 19, 2008 7:28 pm

Hi,

I want to apply for Australia Immigration under General Skilled Migration Program. I am eligible for the same. Can anyone please suggest me how much it would cost? I could not get correct information through their website also as it says that 1st installment will be AUS $2105 and 2nd installment will be AUS $2925.

I have 2 dependents (my wife and my 10 months old son). So what should be the total cost? Can any one please suggest. Thanks.

Regards,

I saw this on their Immigration website but I am confused about 2nd Installment that is 2900+ AUD. Who will need to pay that amount? Can you please clarify? I have my wife and 10 Months old son in my family. My Wife has Ph.D. Degree.

The second installment will only have to be paid if your spouse does not have sufficient English Skills. These skills must be proven by either IELTS exam, proof of education at a school or Uni where the medium of teaching was English, or citizenship of certain native English speaking countries, e.g. UK & Ireland.

The second installment is to cover the cost of English language training in AU when your wife arrives there. If you pay the 2nd installment she will be entitled to up to 510 hours of English teaching at the Adult Migrant English Program.

All this is documented on the DIMIA website.

Thanks Scrudu.

I don't think I'll need to pay 2nd installment as my wife has studied throughout English Medium. Moreover, she is having Ph.D. degree in Child Health.

However, still if they ask to take IELTS, then she won't be having any problem in taking IELTS :-)

SO it means I'll need to pay AUD 2105 and I can apply for Immigration Visa for the family (me as main applicant + wife and 1 child) or I'll need to pay separately for them? Pls suggest. Thanks.

The AUD2105 application fee is for your whole family (you, spouse and children). You will have to provide proof of your wife's level of English with your visa application. In your wife's case, this will mean providing evidence that your wife graduated with a Degree and/or PhD from a University where all training/instruction was carried out through the medium of English.

If this evidence is accepted, you will not be required to pay any further fees (i.e. no 2nd installment). If the evidence is not accepted, your wife could always sit the IELTS test to show that she has
"a band score of at least four and a half (4.5) based on all four components."

Thanks a lot. I don't think there should be any problem regarding English Language. IELTS will always be an option.

Just one more query, this AUD 2105 is included of Immigration application fees + Visa fees for my family or I'll need to pay extra for Visa and how much. I checked VFS website but it was not clear. Can you pls suggest. Thanks.
