Hi All,
New here. My partner is going through the same bureaucratic hell that is BRC replacement after first having to wait 4 months for her pre-settlement status to come through. Her EEA BRC had expired by the time she received her status and the settlement decision letter she received stated "a new residency card will be with you within 10 days" so we assumed she would just be automatically given a new one (she only got her EEA residency card like a year ago and yet they decided to set its expiration date at the same date as the EUSS deadline)
Wish I had checked this forum earlier as we lost an entire month this way. We eventually found out she needed to apply for a BRC replacement separately and she had her biometrics appointment on 27/07, so about a month ago. Now waiting for a decision... We filed a complaint with the home office which was "partially upheld" (i.e. them recognising they made the mistake) and also wrote our local MP but I suppose that won't have any bearing on the processing time of her new card.
I wanted to ask, do they send a confirmation email after youve submitted the BRC or is it just radio silence until they send you confirmation that the new card is on the way? The only email we received is from the agency doing the biometrics, confirming theyve sent it on to the home office.
I must say, Im really just baffled at the way this process is being mishandled by the home office. Really am hoping we dont have to wait another three months as its been 2 years since she's been able to see her family
