I am seeing several December people with emails acknowledging receipt of documents. This really worries me, as one of my documents was an original (a change of name deed from when I was a child, with a letter granting permission from my father, who is now dead) I cannot replace this if they have lost it.discover_ireland wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 4:31 pmHello All,

I haven't received anything either (sent documents in Dec 20) so you are not alone.Suro wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 10:53 pmI am seeing several December people with emails acknowledging receipt of documents. I am seriously worried now. But no point in contacting them over the Christmas period as I doubt anyone is there. But my tracking shows as delivered on 18-11-2021 and I've had no email confirming![]()
Chris, if you can get a copy of the church marriage certificate with a raised seal that should be good enough. You could research where people went for quick (elope) marriages back then and there if you had the time. Elkton MD was a popular place in the mid-Atlantic but there were others.chrisdiaz wrote: ↑Sat Dec 25, 2021 4:34 amAs of the time of writing this, I have almost all of my documents in line. One document that I am not sure that I can obtain is my grandparents' marriage certificate. My family and I are pretty sure that my grandparents eloped out of state and then returned to New York and had a church ceremony afterwards.
What a strange article, if you're married to an EU citizen in most countries (including France I believe) you have the right to reside in the country where your EU citizen spouse is living. You just need to apply for a resident permit. I assumed that as a legal resident of a country (France, Italy, etc) you could get a job Maybe that is not necessarily true.JohnFBR wrote: ↑Sat Dec 25, 2021 4:30 pmIrish citizenship: Covid backlog leads to 'heartbreaking' delays

I sent my kids (two in same packet, one was a child now an adult!) in March 2021, tracking showed received Balbriggan March 25th. I haven’t received any confirmation or email or anything. Not too bothered, everything we sent was a duplicate (original duplicate, lol) so we can wait it out without too much worry. Weird that December 2021 are getting acknowledgements though yeh.LongWayDown wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 1:21 pm
I feel a bit worried now as I sent mine not long after reopening on 18th Nov. Royal mail show tracked and delivered 22nd November but I haven't had any emails. Did everybody get a confirmation email?
Not that wierd, it's likely they just re-started sending out acknowledgement, but don't have the capacity to go back through the system and send acknowledgements for the backlog (which have likely just been added to a pile and slowly added to their computer system over the past 2 years).Iolanthe73 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 1:54 amI sent my kids (two in same packet, one was a child now an adult!) in March 2021, tracking showed received Balbriggan March 25th. Same here - documents sent 25th January 2021 and tracking states delivered on 29th January, but no confirmation email.HPFA wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 6:06 pmI haven't received anything either (sent documents in Dec 20) so you are not alone.Suro wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 10:53 pmI am seeing several December people with emails acknowledging receipt of documents. I'm having trouble adding my name/dates to your spreadsheet - could you please help?SLwlss wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 10:11 amI would say no need for it. If there has been no name change then there's no need to give them a piece of information that doesn't corroborate your story
The wording on https://www.dfa.ie/citizenship/born-abr ... ign-birth/ say to provide a document described below so indicates it is only to corroborate a name change:
"Original civil marriage certificate (if applicable) OR other change of name document (if applicable)"
That's awesome, congrats. I'm getting the idea that the "2 years" the FBR is now saying is not going to really to happen at the moment. It's almost Jan 2022 and I haven't seen anyone from 2020 application get any kind of response. I'm January 2020 application and it seems highly unlikely mine will done at this rate, before April. Hopefully they're deploying the extra resources they talked about the clear the backlog.PlasticPaddyWagon wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 4:37 pm*** UPDATE ***

I applied online early March 2020 and got a receipt of paper docs on 25th March 2020, literally just b4 the whole world shut down.Dalton_Trumbo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 3:34 pmThat's awesome, congrats. We will see tho! Nothing to do but wait and hope they don't shut down the FBR again because of omicron.
You could make out an affidavit explaining this problem. Make sure to notarize it (or better -get it done by a lawyer if possible.)gmj1892 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 10:40 pmHi everyone,
I'm applying for FBR through an Irish grandparent. I can either apply through my grandmother or grandfather, but I don't have a copy of their marriage certificate.
Is this needed if there's not been a name change? I'm wondering if applying through my grandfather (no name change) without the marriage certificate would be a problem.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Greg
