Supporting letter from bank for Irish short stay 'C' visa

Post by okhajut » Mon Mar 14, 2022 2:54 pm

My wife that is citizen of Pakistan needs to make a visit to Republic of Ireland to meet family members there for a couple of weeks. This means that she needs a type 'C' short stay visa for the republic of Ireland.

On the website at present on this location:
https://www.irishimmigration.ie/coming- ... tdocuments

It states that along with bank statement, she must also:
"If you submit a bank statement from a savings and deposit account, you must include an original letter from your bank (on headed paper). This must confirm you can withdraw money from it."

It does not make sense why such a letter is required.

We have gone to the bank branch twice and also called the bank customer service twice. In different ways we got the same reply which said that the bank cannot / does not / will not provide any such letter and it is "against their policy". We showed them the website page which has forced us to meet the bank so many times but they are not willing to cooperate. They have just said that their position of not providing such a document is a matter of "policy" and "rules" for them and did not elaborate any further.

Does anyone have any experience on what we should do this in situation?

One main issue that visa departments have is they don't know if the applicant really has access to the stated money in a saving/deposit account. Some saving accounts do not allow the withdrawal of money until a fixed number of years have passed, and they are hugely popular in certain Asian countries. Such savings cannot be used to support a short-stay visa for obvious reasons.

If the bank statement clearly states what the saving account type is, and you can get an official brochure for that, which states when you can withdraw money, that should be sufficient.

The bank account is actually a Lloyds Classic Account. The website mentions "savings and deposit account". I am not sure if Classic Account falls into this category or not.

That’s a current account, not saving or deposit account.

A current account is where you receive your salaries, pay direct debits etc.

Saving/deposit accounts are for regular or lump-sum savings. They don’t usually allow regular pay-outs/withdrawals, only pay-ins.
