Thank you, CR001
I entered the UK on 16th Jan 2017 does that mean that I can apply only after 16th Jan 2023contorted_svy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:13 pmYou need to have been physically present in the UK on the 16 Dec 2017 (5 years ago from 15 Dec 2022) not in 2018.
As advised by CR001 ....contorted_svy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:23 pmThe qualifying period is 5 years, not 6. if you entered the UK on the 16 Jan 2017 AND by 16 Dec 2022 you will have held ILR for at least 12 months you will be eligible to apply on 16 Dec 2022 as you completed 5 years of living in the UK.
Perfect - thank you both for clarifying my questions. Now I feel confident. One of my friend told me that One should not be away in the previous year same month if you are applying for naturalization. I don't see any logic there so just wanted to clarify. Thank you once again.alterhase58 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:43 pmAs advised by CR001 ....contorted_svy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:23 pmThe qualifying period is 5 years, not 6. if you entered the UK on the 16 Jan 2017 AND by 16 Dec 2022 you will have held ILR for at least 12 months you will be eligible to apply on 16 Dec 2022 as you completed 5 years of living in the UK.
I suggest stop listening to friends who don't seem to know what they are talking about and read the detailed guidance notes by UKVI.One should not be away in the previous year same month if you are applying for naturalization.
