Language requirement for Ireland Spouse Visa for British Citizen’s foreign spouse

Dear Members,

I am asking this question on behalf of my friend who is a British Citizen, working full-time in the UK for last 10 years and earning more than the UK spouse visa threshold (> £30,000). He wanna sponsor his wife from Pak as a spouse but his wife cannot meet the English language requirement. Therefore he want to move to Ireland and settle there so that he could live with his wife. His question is if his wife still required to meet the English language requirement for Ireland?

The answer is no (I guess it's sill being figured out due to the transitional period).
But the situation itself is alarming.
