Dependent visa

Post by merc90 » Wed Jan 10, 2024 3:33 pm

Dear forum members,

Thanks to the help from the forum members I received my ILR last week.

My partner is in UK currently on a graduate route visa and given that I have ILR now I want to switch her to the dependent visa.

Next year I will be applying for citizenship.

I just wanted to confirm that if we apply for her dependant visa now (2 years and 6 month long as it will be a switch visa) it will still be valid after I am granted citizenship next year and then we will just have to extend her visa for another 2.5 years, around the completion of aforementioned 2.5 years of dependent visa, so that she herself can apply for her ILR (hopefully if the rules don't change).

Thanks

Do you mean you want to get her a spouse visa? If yes, you're right - 2x2.5 year extensions are needed for this and it's the same whether you're on ILR or a citizen.
