Referees - British citizenship application

Post by Lilibet123 » Sat Feb 03, 2024 12:46 pm

Hi.

I have 2 referees who are retired. Is that allowed?
Both of them are uk citizens, one retired IT Manager , one retired Teacher.

I understood that one has to be professional (active?) from a recognised profession but when I click on the link "professional" that opens a list a of recognised professions, I can read that the person "must work in (or be retired from) a recognised profession..."

Would that mean that my Teacher is fine even if retired?

Thank you.

Retired is OK. Teacher is on the recognised list of professions, if they are a member of a chartered body for teachers even better, though having retired from teaching in primary/secondary school should be enough in this case.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
