How do u claim benefits for FLR(FP) Parent route

Post by HelloEveryone » Mon Oct 21, 2024 2:08 pm

Hello,
I have been in the uk going on 18 years and went through a nasty divorce 14 years back and ended up with an FLR(FP) Parent route visa (10 years option) and I was told I am eligible to claim benefits.

However I have never claimed benefits since I have been in the UK

I have been working as a software developer and was earning a good salary. Unfortunately I was made redundant last month and it's taking a while to get back into employment

How do I begin to claim benefits and what would I be entitled to ? Who do I speak to or go about it. Pending while I get another job

Many thanks
E

Usually leave is granted with no recourse to public funds, so check the back of your BRP under remarks to make sure there isn’t a restriction. You may be entitled to New Style JSA (that’s not means tested and isn’t a public funds) see - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-j ... -allowance

In terms of other benefits, depends on your circumstances eg universal credit. Give the help to claim UC line a call they will do a check - https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about ... -to-claim/
