URGENT - Student VISA expiring and uni has not reported completion status to home office

Post by saradominsword » Mon Jan 13, 2025 1:53 pm

I have my visa expiring in few days but I just found out that my university has not reported my completion status to the home office because they didn't know if I have a student visa or not. I sent them the documents they need

How long does it take to report to them and can I apply before that's done on my old CAS?
I'm still in the UK and it expires on the 17th.

This is what they said -
"I have my visa expiring in few days but I just found out that my university has not reported my completion status to the home office because they didn't know if I have a student visa or not. This is what my Uni sent me when I asked them for my updated CAS - "We haven't yet reported your successful completion of your course to the UK Government so you can apply for a Graduate Visa.

This is because we do not have evidence that you are in the UK with a valid Tier 4 or Student visa.

So we can update our records and to see if we can make a report the the Home Office, please upload colour copies of the following documents to this enquiry:

Both sides of your BRP card

Please re-open this enquiry in order to respond and provide documents.

Many thanks"

EDIT: I have received my confirmation from the Uni about me successfully completing the course as well as received my degree, they just have not informed the home office and I can't figure out why

It may be that their records are not accurate. Do what they said and try to push it.

That is not for your university to check anyway. UKVI checks that as part of checking the validity of your application. The university just confirms for UKVI that you meet the three substantive requirements: qualification, successful completion and study in the UK.

It is stupid that they have asked for this extra information, but given the short time, it will be best provide it anyway so at least they will do the report. Later, you might want to complain about their foolishness. Which university is this?

I note you have also posted to Reddit and had similar replies to mine.
