One of my friend on skilled worker visa is about to go one maternity leave, does her employer needs to inform Home Office on Employer SMS about this or it is not required?

The employer needs to inform UKVI via the SMS account.

This is an employer duty, it's not for your friend to be telling them what are their responsibilities.
