Referee Form Mistake

Post by MeriemL » Tue Mar 31, 2026 11:17 am

Hello,

I realised after submitting my naturalisation documents and attending biometrics that I mistakenly attached referee form that were signed by my references, have my picture on them, but did not have my name on them (a reckless mistake - I know). I sent an email to citizenship email address, explained the mistake and attached the signed forms with my name on them. I haven’t heard anything back. My bio was on the 18th of March.
Will this be a massive issue?
Will they see the email I sent and take into account the correct forms?
Is it a problem if my name is typed and not written in pen?

Has anyone experienced something similar, please?
Any advice would be greatly appreciate.

Will this be a massive issue? NO - and they don't normally acknowledge receipt, a frequent query here.
Will they see the email I sent and take into account the correct forms? First of all you uploaded signed forms which are part of your application. They will see your email, and take note of what you send.
Is it a problem if my name is typed and not written in pen? NO!

Has anyone experienced something similar, please? Not personally, but I noticed odd mistakes in my application, after I was approved. Note that you will not be penalised/refused for minor mistakes. If you comply with the statutory requirements there's no issue.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate. We appreciate this is an very important application and expensive as well of course. Easy to say, but I would relax and be prepared to wait for your approval. It can take up to 6 months (processing target) sometimes longer but many times faster than that. They won't contact you with updates, unless they contact you for more information.

Forgot to Disclose Council Tax Related County Court Notice

Post by MeriemL » Thu Apr 16, 2026 10:50 am

Hello,
Any advice is highly appreciated, please.

I applied for citizenship and attended biometrics back in March.
I have just realised that I made a terrible mistake as O forgot to disclose that in 2020 my flat mate at that time and I received a court letter saying that we had council tax arrears. We never attended court as I reached out to the council and set up a payment plan with them. Then, a few weeks later we received another letter from the court confirming the payment plan.
I have since paid and cleared everything. It was never my intention to not pay in the first place - our student council tax exemption ended and we were jobless because of Covid-19 lockdown.
When I was filling in the citizenship application, I completely forgot about this!
What should I do now, please?
Has anyone gone through something similar?
Should I email them? If so , how, please?

Thank you.
Fo they usually accept apologies and late declarations/disclosures?

They will take note of your email.
Unlikely they'll acknowledge - can't see this has any impact on the application.
