Guidance needed for a friend of mine regarding Garda vetting

Post by Chee » Wed May 13, 2026 8:41 pm

Hi hope all is well.
A friend of mine is in the process of applying for Irish citizenship by naturalization. She received an email from ISD support today, with a PDF letter attached in the email that has her reference number. In the email itself, there is this "Please ensure that the address we hold is correct before submitting your e-vetting". But she told me that she did not receive any e-vetting invitation.
It has been a while since my application and my application was paper-based so I don't know much about the process for online-based application. Is this quote just for future reference, or does it mean a separate e-vetting invitation should be sent out to her soon?
Appreciate your help. Thank you.

I'd say the evetting request will come - this is just them ticking the box on a process flow. no idea on timings, but it will come!

From what I’ve seen, that message is often included automatically before the actual e-vetting invitation is sent separately. It usually means they are preparing for the next stage rather than the invitation already being issued.

She should keep checking email/spam folders over the next days or weeks because the e-vetting link sometimes arrives later in a separate

I’ve recently seen a few online Irish naturalization timelines and can share how the process usually moves after this stage.
