Used my fee waiver on the wrong UK visa application by mistake

Post by peter4905 » Wed Jul 15, 2026 7:31 am

**Looking for advice – Used my fee waiver on the wrong UK visa application by mistake**

I'm hoping someone has experienced something similar or can offer some advice.

I recently made a mistake while completing an online UK visa application. It was entirely my fault, and I accidentally submitted the application under the **Child Dependant** route instead of the **Partner (Apply to enter the UK as a partner)** route.

The applicant is an adult spouse, not a child. Unfortunately, the approved fee waiver code was automatically used on the incorrect application. Because of that, I can no longer submit the correct partner application, even though it has already been completed and is ready to go.

I completed the application myself without legal representation and fully accept responsibility for the mistake.

I have already emailed UKVI explaining the situation, but I haven't received any acknowledgement or response so far.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

* How long does UKVI usually take to respond to this type of request?
* Is it normal not to receive an acknowledgement after sending the email?
* Will UKVI usually withdraw the incorrect application and release the fee waiver so it can be used on the correct application?
* Is there anything else I should do while waiting for a response?

This has been very stressful because we rely on the approved fee waiver and cannot afford to submit a new application without it.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through a similar situation. Thank you.
