Family VISA or Skilled worker dependant

Post by amitpm_uk » Fri Aug 07, 2026 1:21 pm

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your guidance and help from time to time. Are you able to pls guide for my current situation and possible options selection from below.

Oure current status:
Me: Skilled worker visa starting Dec 2020. ILR received Dec 2025.
Wife: On skilled worker visa starting March 2023.
Daughter: On wife's skilled worker visa dependant starting March 2023.

Request for guidance to select the best possible option:
Option1: Wife and daughter stay on their skilled worker and skilled worker dependant visa and hope for wife's visa renewal till ILR eligibility.
Option2: Wife and daughter apply as my ILR dependant and wait for 5 years to get their ILR. Apply in August 2026.
Option3: Only daughter apply as my ILR dependant. Apply in August 2026.

My question is related to options as below:
Option1: When would wife and daughter qualify for ILR considering minimum salary requirement £50k fulfilled.
Option2: What is the eligibility requirements in terms of relation, financial status, dependent salary requirement to qualify, and any other requirement from you daughter. When would my wife and daughter receive her ILR and Citizenship.
Option3: What is the eligibility for this option, can my daughter apply as dependant of one parent and when would my daughter receive her ILR and Citizenship.

Thanks in advance.

Your daughter qualifies for ilr when your wife does. If she is not UK born, there is no shortcut route for her

The quickest route to ILR for them is if they stay on their current visa route.

Thanks @CR001

Option1 is indeed the best option but is dependant on my wife getting her visa and job status remaining the same till ILR eligibility.

However option 2 and 3 gives us immunity to any such/ govt policies change. The only flip side is the 5 year period would reset.

Is Option3 (Wife stays on her skilled worker visa and daughter applies from my ILR dependant) possible? Could home office allow that and grant the visa?

Option 3 is not possible for your daughter. She follows the same visa path as your wife. They either both change visa route or both extend their existing visa route.

The family visa route is not immune from policy and rules changes.
