Thats true... the Govt has to take some measures but dont know how much people in UK (in all categories) are gonna get affected?

I can think for the following outcomes

1- Govt may stop Tier 1 post study visas for oversea students to help British Graduates.
2-Govt may finish points for age in Tier 1 general to help young british people.
3- Govt has already showed its intension that all jobs will be advertised by JCP for tier 2 visas.

But one thing is certain that new rules will not apply to people already in UK on Tier 1. (At least after losing HSMP JR, govt will think twice).

So new rules will apply to new comers and govt will deal with current immigrants in next citizenship bill.

Sadly, I don't think this is certain. Tier 1 applicants sign a statement that they understand the immigration rules may change in the future. HSMP applicants affected by the JR never had to do this. I believe the presence of this statement eliminates the argument that carried the day in the HSMP JR case - that the government set expectations for HSMP renewal criteria which it later decided not to make good on.

Yes, the govt might be more cautious with Tier 1 changes, but I think the statement they make you sign gives them the latitute to cause problems renewing Tier 1 migrants if they want.

Jacqui Smith (Home Secretary) said that before Jobs can be advertised overseas, they MUST BE advertised in the jobcentre plus. Now, does it mean specifically the job centre or making sure that all jobs must be advertised (shortage or non shortage) in national newspapers and recruitment agencies (not necessarily JobCEntre Plus but at least a recruitment agency).

I may want to change jobs. Suppose the job is not advertised on the jobcentre plus website, would that bar me from applying or would employers just advertise in the jobcentre after they've offered me a job just to fill the criteria?

Please help.

Hello Todd.

My understanding is that the job has to be advertised sufficiently prior to it being opened for foreign applicants. I was not aware that it had to be done specifically through JobcentrePlus. I'm pretty sure that not every job at present is advertised via those means.

i remember hearing on a news channel, that the job had to be advertised on jobcentre plus for 2wks.
