Calculating qualifying period for ILR

Post by johnji » Sat Feb 14, 2009 11:40 pm

Please help me in calculating the qualifying period for ILR . I am about to apply for ILR in March 2009.
I was out of UK for more than 120 days in 2006.
But it will not exeed 450 days in total during the 5 years period.

In some forums I could see that 225 is the maximum number of days one can stay out of UK during the 5 year poeriod, but it is given as 180 days in some other threads !

I could not find anything regarding the residential qualifying period for ILR in the UKBA website. But there are information about naturalisation.
Is the rules same for ILR & naturalisation in calculating the qualifying period ? I am confused, please see the link http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/britis ... uirements/.
Nothing is there on the SET (O) form or in the guidence note.
Please help me any one there . Please tell me where can i find more information on this, particularly on abscence from UK when applying for ILR .

thanks

No 450 is for naturalisation
180 days is for ILR work permit holders
You need to find the application applicable to you and check the guidance properly.

Thanks for your help republique
Could you please give me the exact location (web page) of that information which shows 180 days are the maximum allowed absence from UK for ILR .
I am a work permit holder and I need to apply for ILR on the form ‘SET (O)’

As I mentioned earlier there is nothing about it either in the (SET O) form for ILR or in the guidance for ILR. Please see the link http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/ukresi ... ormset(o)/

Also I have spent a lot of time in the UKBA website looking for this, but couldn’t. Please help me
thnk you
