TO REGISTER THE SON OR WAIT FOR DP5/96 DECISION

Post by lancoalase » Sun Mar 29, 2009 2:49 pm

Can you pls tell me the situation. A cousin of mine has been in uk since 1997 and has a son born in 1998 and a son that came with her in 1997 and was age 5 then ,but now 16+. In 2005, she made an application on seven years concession based on her kids long residence. and she has been waiting and has been corressponding with home offce all this time via solicitor, herself and 2 mp’s. All reply are awaiting consideration, case allocated to case owner and recently been told awaiting furher consideration. Can you pls, tell her if it is ok to apply for registration for the child born here in 1998 and will it have any effect on her pending dp5/96 application. And she has other 2 young children both born in uk. many thanks

Just a quick question. What is your cousins current status. The reason i ask is because to register a child born here the applicants parent needs to have attained ILR after the child is born

Children born here can also be registered as British citizens when they reach the age of 10 regardless of the parent's status. I think this is what the OP is referring to.

Thanks Thandia. my apologies if i misled anyone. I am not sure if submitting a registration application will 'cancel' the previous application. so all i can say really is she should try to keep pressure thru mp, solicitors and any other organisation that help in these sort of cases. 4 years waiting is really a long time
