Urgent query - self employment for Tier 1

I am on Tier 1 visa and am due for my ILR early next year. I am looking to get self-employed considering I have lost my job.

1) Is there any definition of what kind of company I can start to be eligible for Tier 1 renewal ? Can I start a company in partnership with my spouse or should it be just as a sole trader to be eligible for Tier 1?

2) If my spouse is earning as a contractor, but I work for other aspects of the company will my salary drawn as business partner be valid for my earnings of Tier 1?

Can I get reference to any immigration rules - any link that defines self-employment will hep.

You can open company and there is not restriction on how you divide the ownership.

If your wife is contractor and you want to show economic activity for your ILR, you can open company . Make your wife as director(sole owner) and you can work in the company as companby secretary. This will count for your ILR.
