I think you have missed out a rather important step! That is, after the marriage in Belarus, she will need to obtain a spouse visa ..... in her country!

Armed with the spouse visa is her passport, yes she will be allowed to work in the UK, as soon as she arrives.

Marriage in Belarus

Post by irollins » Wed Jul 22, 2009 4:34 pm

Thanks for that info John

Maybe you could also help me a little further? or advise of the best way to gather all the info i would need

If i travel to Belarus to marry do we have to wait 15 days after registering our marriage proposal in Belarus? or is their another way as i will struggle due to lack of holidays i have remaining

also where would i get or do i need some kind of marriage cert from the Uk to take with me, i have heard you also need proof that you are not or have never been married before, is this correct and again where is the best place to get this documentation

Cheers - Ian

If you are asking about Belarus marriage law then I have to say .... no knowledge! Surely your fiancée would have some idea?

If Belarus ask for cert of non- marriage then yes you need to take it with you. This certificate is a proof that you are single in the UK, not currently married.

If Belarus still follow Soviet Marriage laws (which I bet my arse they do) the rules are;

1. Must be resident 32 days prior to marriage.

2. Std visa is only 31 days max.

3. They do it on purpose.

Answer is;

1. Business visa - 300 quid or so

2. Two trips - one to register - one to marry later

3. Po-blatu
