I applied for LTR last year. At the time, if the terms were close enough to 5 years, they accepted your application. My 5 years would actually fall a few months later after the date of application submitted.

ANY VIEW ON THESE OR AM I STUFFED? Red tape can be one sided in many respects but this is for another discussion.

Following your application did you recieve an acknowledgement with a reference number from INIS? If you did, you are most likely to have scaled the eligibility (1st) huddle. From my understanding they screen all applications for eligibility before reference numbers are aloted. Further processing wont commence until about 15 months so you would only have to worry about clearing the later stage requirements i.e Tax compliance, social welfare and police clearance at that stage.

well, ye, I got a letter and confirmation of the application taken to consideration on at least 3 occasions. I would hate a nasty surprise I got from citinzenship section (this wasi ntiially submitted in days of no formal analysis of the applications to meet eligibility) and subsequent refusal to consider it after 18 months (just re-applied last month).

thecriterial you outline are in part relate to citizeniship; however, I have nothing to worry about. it is just the initial bit. I was a bit hurried on both occasions, should have taken 2 months extra to be in the blue.

as far as I understand, the actual processing of the application is done in the final stages after waiting in the queue for some time. it is up to the section to decide whether they refuse your application at that stage or not if you applied too early. You should apply when you complete 60 months and not before. But I guess it will depend how early you applied and what procedures the section will take on that. I would guess that there were many people who applied earlier as they didn't take into account the gaps in their permission. I am afraid if the section were to decide to be strict on the 60 months on the day of application, more than half of the applicants would get refused... So all you have to do now is wait and see what happens when your application is going to be initially processed.

i cam across somewhere that LTR section was accepting slightly premature applications till early 2008. My acceptance of it would probably indicate that it got in with the lot (I cant be certain of anything really).

Iwould hope for some humanity on the section's side whereby a nearly 2 year wait could be rewarded with a bit of levy.

I do pass strng comments about DoJ; however my dealings with DETE has bee more favourable and positive - guys and girls take responsibility and deal with cases directly, wih no outside agencies talk. i am sure there are plenty of adequate folks in DoJ, nothing that a real compassion in a hard-wrking man's situation with nothing to be ashamed of in terms of immigration history.
