HSMP Extension - Some Concerns

Post by Dr-Java » Fri Oct 21, 2005 12:02 pm

Hi All,

Firt of all I appriciate all members who are activily participating in this board. This is really helpfull for every one who stick with immigration in any aspect.

I have some concerns, will you pls let me know these.

Question 1: I am planning to apply for HSMP Extension along with my partner and have read form FLR (IED). The main confusing thing for me is "Police Registration Certificates for all members included in FLR(IED) " I have read this thing from this link: http://www.hsmp-services.co.uk/hsmp_ext ... ation.html
Can anyone tell me does it apply to me or not if yes then what should i have to do for this ?

Question 2. I have neither any Debit Card/Credit Card nor cheque book as i have a basic account. Is postal order for making payment of 335 pounds is okay ? i mean what is better and favourable way to make fee payment ?

Question 3. As my first year visa is going to be expire in first week of Feb 2006, At least when should i apply for extension. If i apply in frist week of December 2005, dose that makes sense or i am late if i do so ?

Looking forward you

Many Thanx

Using your numbering :-
  1. What is your nationality? Whether or not you need to register with the Police will depend upon your nationality. What does your visa say? If it does not mention any requirement to register with the Police then you do not need to do so.
  2. A basic bank account? At a High Street bank? I would say go into your branch, with your card, and ask for a banker's draft for the required amount.
  3. The guidance on the form FLR(IED) indicates the application should be submitted no earlier than five weeks before the expiry of your current permission. By the way, do ensure you use the version of the form that says it is valid on or after 15 September 2005.

Have you at any point been asked to register with the police? If not, then you dont have to give any police registration certificates.
While it is nice to read different forums and websites for information that may assist your immigration, please always read the guidance notes provided by the HO carefully and multiple times, in this case the FLR application itself

Question 2. I have neither any Debit Card/Credit Card nor cheque book as i have a basic account. Is postal order for making payment of 335 pounds is okay ? i mean what is better and favourable way to make fee payment ?
They have no specific preference in accepting payments. There is a payment processing team that accepts debit/credit cards, cheques, postal orders etc and they will accept your postal order without battling an eyelid.
People sending in the applications dont always prefer to send personal cheques because it can take a few days for payment to clear.
Question 3. As my first year visa is going to be expire in first week of Feb 2006, At least when should i apply for extension. If i apply in frist week of December 2005, dose that makes sense or i am late if i do so ?
Again, as per the guidelines in the FLR document, its a month from the expiry of the visa. Many people have send in the application with 2 months to go and their application has been processed, so that would be the 1st week of december for you.

Dr-Java, if you or anyone else wants to know about Police Registration ... do they need to register or not ... then have a read of this topic where I post a full list of the nationalities that need to register with the Police.

The basics .... there are no Commonwealth countries on that list .... but as regards non-Commonwealth countries ... there are lots missing from the list.

Dr-Java, as you are Pakistani you have no need to register with the Police.
