Switching from WP to Tier 1 - Lost passport

Hi all,

I am on a WP expires Oct 2011, wanna switch to Tier 1 just in case something goes wrong with the current employment.

My passport with the WP visa stamp was lost. I now have a new passport but without a visa stamp. However I still keep a copy of the lost passport with the photo page and the visa stamp. I heard that applying for a new stamp in the new passport will cost you something like £500!

Is it possible to switch to Tier 1 application with the new passport and a copy of the old passport (with the reference number in the copy, they can easily check the visa stamp is genuein)? Should I write a cover letter explaining the situation and requirement for Tier processing without the need to re-apply for the WP stamp on the new passport ?

And do I still need to provide police report number in this case? Which documents else do you think I need to provide?
