social welfare benefits

Post by knapps » Tue Oct 27, 2009 1:36 pm

hello guys, my wife is a EU citizen and has worked in Ireland for more than 4 years. She has to go to her country due to the lack of medical support and help in Irish hospitals as we have been bounced pillar to post for 11 months now. She can get treatment done in 6 months and be back. She is after giving up her job as to get treatment in her home country under health insurance. My question is when she comes back to ireland after 5 months can she apply for social welfare benefits till she gets the job back in Ireland.

Any suggestion i will be deeply appreciate. also i am under a eufam stamp 4 and we are married for 4 years. i will continue working here as i have a good job.

Yes she can, as she has paid enough PRSI to qualify.

She will not have to meet, or be assessed under the habitual residency criteria.
