Tier 1 (General) Approved but expected error --- Pls advice

Post by dx_sadiq » Thu Oct 29, 2009 4:59 pm

Friends
My name is very long , in my passport under surname its blank and under Given names it says my last name and first name, and my first name is split under three words , see below
Given names(As per Passport): CHOUDHARI MEER SADIQ ALI

However while submitting my Tier 1 application I wrote my name under given names as
CHOUDHARI MEERSADIQALI without splitting my first name.

I assume BHC might have taken only ALI as my first name and typed my name in the VISA as follows
ALI CHOUDHARI MEER SADIQ.
For sure this will create an issue later so I want this to be corrected.

Please advise

Is it your first-ever visa? I mean do you have any other visa with your name typed on it? For me it is fine. Because they did not take your name from your application, but from your passport.

So, your name would be like this
Surname/Family name: ALI
Given name/s: CHOUDHARI MEER SADIQ

And your name on visa is:
ALI, CHOUDHARI MEER SADIQ.

I do not see any problem with your name.

Yes mvent00 this is my first ever visa ,

and if they have taken it from my passport where my passport doesn’t have my surname/Family name which is Blank
And given name/s in passport is CHOUDHARI MEER SADIQ ALI
where as MEER SADIQ ALI is one word and should read as MEERSADIQALI .

hence my visa should say MEERSADIQALI CHOUDHARI.

please correct me if i am wrong

I still keep same opinion. But if you think this information is wrong, you should immediately contact visa application centre or visa section. Please do let us know about the outcome of your communication with them.

Hi mvent00
i personally went to VFS Bangalore office and told them about the name correction to be done on my visa, the guy who was at the inquiry counter said , its absolutely possible and i need to submit a letter to BHC stating the correction in my name. so now i have to write a letter to BHC and explain them that my first name which is split in 3 parts is actually a one word and request them to make these changes on my visa.

but i am wondering if i just write a letter to them to read my first name MEER SADIQ ALI and one word ie MEERSADIQALI then i am afraid if they ask for any additional documents to prove that may first name is one word .

so i have drafter the below mentionend letter, Pls let me know if this sounds better ot do i need to make any changes

Dated: October 1st Nov , 2009

MEERSADIQALI CHOUDHARI
Xxxxx
Xxxxxxxx
Xxxxx

To,
The Immigration Officer,
Tier 1 (General) Points Based System

Dear Sir/Madam,
Sub: NAME CORRECTION ON THE VISA PAGE FOR PASSPORT # xxxxxxx VFS #
I received my passport and documents on 29th Oct 2009 with Tier 1 (General) visa approved, however my name on the visa page says ALI CHOUDHARI MEER SADIQ .
The second part of my given name in my passport MEER SADIQ ALI is actually one word and should read as MEERSADIQALI.
So my given name should have two words as follows
CHOUDHARI MEERSADIQALI.
Hence my name on visa should read as MEERSADIQALI CHOUDHARI
I kindly request you to please make these correction and should you have any queries or need more information, please don’t hesitate to call me on xxxxxxx or email me at xxxxxxxxxxx

Thanking you
Sincerely

MEERSADIQALI CHOUDHARI

Hi, dx_sadiq
How does your name appear on your academic transcripts? To me it is strange, as I have some friends, whose name according to their language format would be like CHOUDHARI MEER SADIQ ALI rather than CHOUDHARI MEERSADIQALI. You should make sure before asking them for correction.

Agreed mvent00 , as you rightly pointed out , my academic transcript , my bank statements, driving license etc are all as below

CHOUDHARI MEERSADIQALI BBBBBBBB where BBBBB is my father's name .
i am sure this will creat an issue later in future

coz my passport says CHOUDHARI MEER SADIQ ALI

My Transcripts says CHOUDHARI MEERSADIQALI BBBBBB

my Visa says ALI CHOUDHARI MEER SADIQ

Please advise

That is what I thought. They will consider only passport name for visa purposes. And as it appears on your passport, they considered ALI as your surname/family name and remaining parts of name as given names. Now you make sure, what order of name you want to keep in future, and request accordingly, as later it would become more and more difficult to revise these kind of issues.

Thanks mvent00 ,
i applied passport way back in 2001 and that time it was hand written and while writing my name they separated my first name in three parts.

now my concern is , will BHC accept my request stating to read my second part of my name MEER SADIQ ALI as one word MEERSADIQALI and make the corrections on my VISA or will they raise an issues telling it should be changed in my first changed in my passport and then we will change

Well, this issue should have been sorted out much earlier. The best way to do this now is to first contact your passport issuing authority and ask for correction. After this make correction on your visa.
