Refusal please help.

According to my lawyer i have been refused because the HO thinks im leading and independent life as i am working full time and i am depending on my mom. The thing is my lawyer hasn't actually showed me any documentation on this. First he said i have to appeal and that i have 4 pages to sign, so i said ill come in and sign them, when i got there he said he will sign it for me and send it off in 2 days. 2 days later my dad phone the lawyer and he said he sent them off to the HO.

But i wanted to be sure that he did so i rang my lawyer and he said he sent them, so i said since it has been sent, i will come in and pay him £350 for starting my appeal. By the way this is costing me £850 to appeal. so when i went to pay him, he hadn't send it off, i was really upset, because the lawyer sent it off the same day i was coming with the money. Basically he wouldn't have sent it off until i paid him. We have to pay £2000 for all 4 of us passport to be sent through the lawyer.

He is now demanding money from us. He still hasn't showed us anything about my passport being refused. I am thinking it wasn't refused in the first place, maybe he just want our money.

Check to see if he's registered with the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner.

Thank you, I have checked the list and he is registered, but this is just not fair, if he is a good lawyer he would say bring any amount of money you have, not demanding £1000. I dont know, im just really upset.

It is your rights to see the refusal and the reason for it. You cannot simply allow him to tell you by word of mouth.

I still have to pay him £500, but before i hand this over, i am demanding to see my passport. Every time we phone him to ask about something he makes you feel stupid, he makes you feel like you shouldn't ask him anything. He is always saying something that isn't relevant to our situation. I just wish we could find an honest lawyer.

Anyway, thank you!

Has this "lawyer" issued you with what is known as a "client care letter", setting out what your instructions are, what he is prepared to do and what he will charge?
This is standard practice for a reputable OISC advisor or solicitor, and if your chap hasn't done this, or hasn't done what he promised, you should report him immediately. You shouldn't put up with this.
There is a certain type of legal advisor who will take money from their clients even though they know the case has no chance of success, and it's totally dishonest. They tell people what they want to hear, and when the money runs out, or the appeal fails, it's just a letter to the Home Office saying "I no longer represent this person".
I've encountered so many vulnerable people who have been ripped off by immigration lawyers.

You are refused on what type of application? ILR, nationality, FLR, dependant visa?
