UK tier 1 Self Employement

Post by krishna1215 » Sat Nov 07, 2009 12:55 pm

Hi,
I recently got my UK tier 1 visa. Its said that a Tier 1 guy can be self employed, provided he maintains his earnings all through the 3 years period before extension being granted.

When I applied I got points for earnings for the range between 30,000-35000. My understnding is that the next 3 yrs I should always maintain this range. Isnt it?

What all categories come under self employment. Can I work in IT as a full time employee as well look after a small business like a fast food centre. Can spouse manage that.

Are they any guys who can share thoughts about these and steps to follow. Please share your experiences. If there are any genunie and reliable consultants regarding self employement who can guide, I dont mind approaching them.

You have to consider your points carefully for extension. You may not received the same points for your age(if you received any initially) which will bring down your total points. As per the current rules, HO is asking for 12 months of salary in the past 15 month before your visa expire(same as initial earnings creteria. But this may/may not change in future.

Hi Chetan/Sushil,
I have not claimed points for age. so that wouldn't be a problem.
Can spouse work in UK in any job / contract.
Will I need to undergo any medical tests in UK along with my family.

If immigration officer need one, he can always ask you to get one done at airport which I doubt. I am never asked X-ray nor most of my colleagues.
