Can I apply Visitor's Visa for 1yr or more at the first time

Post by jay.priya » Fri Nov 20, 2009 12:27 am

Hi,

Actually I am from India holding UK Work Permit valid until 2012. The case is I need to bring my Mother to take care of kid. My kid is also in India and she will fell sick without my mother.

For the first time, can I apply VISA (Visitor's Visa) for a year or more. Reason is I have a choice in the form like 6 months, 1 year and 2 year.

I know she cannot stay more than 6 months at a stretch and she will be traveling to India once in 6months.

Just like to know if I can apply her Visitors Visa for a year at the first time. Also I can submit the itinerary/ticket with return from the date she got Visa. Please suggest.

Many Thanks
Jay

A one year visa would be pointless as you can only stay six moths in one year.

Also whilst it;s ok for her to help out at home, u cant bring her here to work.

Unlikely to get a 1/2 or 10 year visa first time until it's proved visa terms can be honoured. And like UKBAbble says, only ever 6 months in every 12.

It is, nevertheless, an option on the form, presumably for an applicant who intends, say, to visit in January for 3 months and again in September for 3 months.

However, the OP's mother as a first-time applicant has no chance of getting anything more than a 6-month visit visa, unless she has some exalted status.

i think also applying for 1year visa the first time round might actually have a negative effect on the application. I think the 1yr, 2yr etc options should be used mainly by business people who can show that they have to regularly visit or pass through uk
