year end date on dividend voucher

Post by skomati » Wed Dec 23, 2009 8:12 pm

hi, My ltd company ARD is 30/11/09 at companies house web site..

My accountant prepared the accounts upto 04/12/09 and submitted them to company house..

Assume i took interim dividends in Oct, Nov and final dividend on 04/12/09
so what date should i write on dividend vouchers for year end date...

as per my knowledge the year end date is 30/11/09 for all interim and final dividends..

My accountant says the date for upto which the accounts are prepared is year end date to be written on dividend vouchers..

which one is correct?

please advise me
thank you

You should write the date on which dividends were actually transferred in your personal account. This is to make surr caseworker can corroborate details properly.

You can also get a letter from account in the below format for the same:

thank you for ur reply..

Dividend for the year ended {your company year end date} payable to holders registered on {date of meeting}. Date of payment {date of payment}.
what is the year end date in the below scenario.

My ARD according to companies house web site is 30/11/09.

i took interim dividends in oct, nov and final dividend on 04/12/09

but accountant prepared the accounts upto 04/12/09 and submitted them..

i wrote year end date as 30/11/09 but the accountant says that i must write year end date as 04/12/09 on dividend vouchers..
which is correct?
thank you

That is not a problem. Company law permits the accounts to be made up to a date within 7 days of the ARD. So rather than making accounts up to a Monday, a conclusion might have been reached to make them up to a Friday, the end of your working week?

Accountant is right.

There r two dates in dividend voucher

1. date on which voucher issued - generally date on which amt credited in shareholders account

2. accounting period for which dividend paid - that is year end date of accounts .

hope by now you r half accountant -regards
