LC20 - Driving Conviction and Naturalization

Post by mobby-uk » Fri Feb 05, 2010 11:38 am

I was convicted by the COURT in JAN 2007 (3 Points on UK Driving Licence + £30 Only Fine by the Court but NO COURT COSTS WERE CHARGED). Now I wish to apply for Naturalization. I do not have any further convictions and am fully economically active throughout the last 5 years (4 years HSMP + 1 year Indefinite).

Has anyone got experience of getting Naturalized while having this Conviction. I understand that as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 the spent period for Court fine for major traffic convictions is 5 years. It has been mentioned in "the guidance notes for Naturalization" that the "application is unlikely to be successful" but does not say that application cannot be submitted for consideration. Could someone advise me if he has got the Naturalization (based on the Caseworker's discreation) in a similar case (major traffic offence). Thanks!

Driving without insurance with court fine is guaranteed 5yr wait before you can apply for Naturalisation. you have to speak to a lawyer before you waste your £770 fee!!
