Hi Seniors!
Is highly skilled or taxi driving highly skilled to apply for Tier 1 (General)?
I was watchiing that on UKBA that you must prove that you are highly skilled.
I want to know; Would the case worker gove visa to security guard and taxi driver?

All you need to prove eligibility for Tier-1 (G) is sufficient points from Earnings (any legitimate source) +Education+Age

It is highly unlikely that you driving taxi is categorized as "highly skilled job" but dont let the name fool you. Highly skilled job usually pays better than skilled job and means the person has got better qualifications than most people. (masters is the minimun for tier 1 general currently).

Check on UKBA website if you score enough points under tier 1. If you do, then you should be able to apply.

There is no "official" list of job titles that falls under highly skilled category.

cheers

1st of very sorry for lot of mistakes in the last post.
2ndly, final suggestion from respected seniors!
Should my friend apply for Tier 1 (G) as he doing job as a security guard as ell as taxi driving.
Can the case worker refuse his application for being not Highly Skilled as UKBA website says you must prove that u r highly skilled although he is on PSW and has got MBA from UK Uni and earning enough to claim the required points.

Plz ur precious guidance will help him a lot.

Kind Regards

ursbunti, your friend, given that this is a points-based system, how many points has he got?

Currently - Yes
Points are based on earning. Whatever you do, if you have enough earnings than you can apply Tier 1. Officially there is no approved list of professions which can only be considered for Tier 1.

In few months time - May be no
If you search Tories's speeches about immigration than you will find that they are going to deal these points (Highly skilled people in lower paid jobs and age points for visas)

I think that if your friend can apply before next election than its better decision for him.

Points are based on earning
Some points are based upon earnings. But lots of other points from other categories.
