Permenant leave to remain after HSMP

Post by docsimmi » Wed Mar 08, 2006 8:36 pm

Hallo,

I am unclear whether one can apply for permanent leave to remain after 4 years or 5 years?

I was under the impression that one could apply for PLR after 4 years but I have been informed that there has been a change in the immigration policy and one can only apply for PLR after being on work permit/HSMP for 5 years.

Could someone please clarify this for me?

That is the proposed change and it will come into effect at some point. The Home Office have not set any timeline or date when it will come into effect. For the moment it remains 4 years.
