Hello,

please i am submitting my settlement visa application on friday and while i was going through my documents i found out that i have alot of documents that i want to present to the ECO and i am not sure if this documents are too much, please kindly advice thank you.

in my list of documents i have:
- Evidence of marraige: (180 pictures), marriage certificate, state of origin certificate, sworn affidavits of bacheloohood and spinsterhood prior to marriage

- sponsors' documents: colored photocopy ofpassport bio-data page, previous passports, letter from employer, council tax, bank statement (6months) pay slips(6 months), tenancy agreement

-Evidence of contact: 72phone cards, 4 copies of flight tickets, 200pages emails, money transfer reciepts. 7 pages of text msgs, 200pages of phone records

- Applicant's documents: Police character report, copies of u.k and u.s Visa refusals

- Applicant's document: Tenancy agreement, and utility bills for 4years

_ Applicant's document: Business registration certificate, Tax documents, applicant's company Bank statements and personal bank statements for for 6months.

-Applicant's documents: Previous u.k training certificates, Photos of training in u.k, Educational certificates (11copies) birth certificates and certificate of baptism, invitation for employment interview in u.k, job search evidence in the u.k, previous job letters.

-Applicant's documents: 113 copies of business transaction with client, copies of applicants company adverts in the papers, and copies of interviews.

- Application form passport and valid passport


Please can you advice if this documents are too much of enough, they are bulk though and weigh 6.3kg thank you for your advice in advance.

You know ECOs on average have 10 minutes to consider each case with the admin being done by non ECOs.

That is too much stuff. I don't know why you didn't include evidence of family planning decions just to top it off.

You don't say anything about your immigration history and/or nationality so it is hard to give specific advice.

If I got all that stuff to consider it would pi** me off frankly.

You have to provide evidence you will both have enough money, have somewhere adequate to live and that you intend to live together.

lol, you dont need to impress the ECO, you only need to include relevant docs that will help the ECO in making a decision. 180 pictures, 200 pages of email are way over the top.

oh wow, why exactly do you have 200 pages worth of emails? Did you print out like the actual messages that you sent back and forth? That's very very unecessary. They don't want to read through your little cutsey messages to eachother!

Unless dated, you could have clicked the photographs in a single trip of 2 weeks. Possible, right? So 180 or 18 are no different. How do affidavits of bachelorhood and spinsterhood fall under "evidence of marriage"?

Do phone cards indicate who you have called or when you bought them? Hundreds of pages of emails/phone records are unnecessary. Can be reduced considerably if you think right (e.g.- phone bill for every quarter, email a week) .... the evidence is prove that the relationship is subsisting ... and not that you cannot live without talking to each other 24 times a day (or emailing as much).

- Applicant's documents: Police character report, copies of u.k and u.s Visa refusals

- Applicant's document: Tenancy agreement, and utility bills for 4years

While business registration, company and personal bank statements are evidence of business, income and finances but what requirement(s) do you believe the above documents fulfil?

your emials can be reduced to one screenshot showing the inbox with your emails back and forth to each other, you should be able to search through your emails with your applicants name and they will show time and date

Thank you Paperpusher, I am Nigerian and my wife is British. She earns 1300 pounds per month and has 600pounds left after paying her bills, I have a savings of about 3000pounds to support my wife with.

I am a Nigerian and well informed about that. It's not compulsory in Nigeria and and not a requirement in your spouse visa application. I have witnessed a lot of marriages in Lagos and none of them submits an affidavit of whatever before getting married.

You only need to give notice of your marriage and a copy of the notice with the intending couples passport photographs attached to it, it will be displayed at the registry's notice board for a minimum of 2 weeks before getting married. do not ruin your application my brother by including irrelevant document. The BHC in Lagos or Abuja accepts your marriage certificate as evidence of your marriage.

What BHC wants to see is the evidence of marriage (certificate) recognized by law in Nigeria (and hence in the UK). Documentary evidence required by Nigerian authorities to register your marriage isn't what BHC will be interested in, because these documents may have no legal value in the UK.

Required - evidence of marriage (certificate).
Not required - what all you had to do / submit to get that marriage certificate.
