This statement is extracted from guildance note for dependant of PBS.Switching is permitted when applying as a family member who currently holds leave as the partner or child of a person who had leave under another category and who has since been granted, or is, at the same time, being granted leave to remain as a Relevant Points Based System Migrant


Can this means if a family member(with independent visa) is applying at the same time as main applicant,they will be granted leave to remain together or considered together.I want members of this highly valued and informative forum to contribute.Thanks.

No.

It means that if the main migrant is allowed to switch immigration category and wishes to do so then the family members (dependents in UK on dependent visa) can also apply to switch (either at the same time as the main migrant or after the main migrant is granted leave under the new category).

So, if a family member has an independent visa, he/she would have to leave the country to get a dependant visa.
