Hiya John ,
I really am so grateful to be able to talk with you.
The incident in March was dreadful. To cut it really short. She was coming over for 4 weeks to meet my son and see how she liked UK etc, but on arrival Gatwick said she couldn't come in ... their reasons very odd.
On the paperwork it says, i said we'd not met before and she said we had, so they said we were lying. But in reality, on the phone in the lobby he asked me along with what seemed like 600 other q's .. had i been to her house .... i said no cos we met in a completly different state. I told him this but he didn't want to listen.
The other thing was that she had her resume(cv), birth cert and an exam paper on her. We explained how that came about but they didn't want to listen either. It was very simple... when we met up in the US she was looking for work, hence the cv and exam paper, and she was born in the same state so collected her birth certificate from there also, so she could get the passport to come here. She put the birth cert in her envelope with her work things to keep it nice. There was only a few weeks in between each visit and she didn't think to sort thru the envelope that had all her docs. She wanted to bring her birth cert as prrof of her first name as it is not on her passport or driving licence, only her initials.
Anyways, they gave her 3 days compassionate leave, when i got back i spotted so many mistakes on her immigration papers, wrong flight, name misspelt etc. We contacted the helpline on thier paperwork and were told to ring the MP , which we did. Also sent some letters to immigration telling them the mp was involved and can we have extension while we get the mess cleared up. Also we were told to sit tight (by the helpline) and not go for the flight as we had a good case. They didn't contact us until Sat night (flight was supposed to be sat morning backto US). They screamed, yes screamed at us, accused us of alsorts of things, it was horrible. We asked for time til monday so we could contact the mp again, anyways sunday afternoon the police turned up for her, and off they carted her.
It was awful, we were so confused and upset.
My mp is on the case and has written to Charles Clarke.
Ok sorry that wasn't very short.
As for contact, i enclosed some emails too and my letter of support and her main letter are full of alsorts of details. Very emotional ones. We don't have any pics of us together simply cos the first time i went there my camera was being dodgy and the time she came here we spent all our time trying to figure out what to do and crying.
I'm trying not to worry but i feel so sick in my stomach with all this.
Thanks
