EEA2 Application - Bank Statement, minimum balance? Section6

Hello,

My partner (Italian) and I (America) are applying for an EEA2 visa in the next few months. My partner is currently a student so we will be filling out Section 6. The section asks for a bank statement but gives no indication of what it is assessing it for. Does there need to be a minimum balance or evidence of funds coming in and going out etc? If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated!

Bank statement should show that the EEA national has sufficient funds to support family w/out heavily relying on the state.
