Usually it is done by phone call. You will get the complete details of how to make an appointment and what will happen during the ceremony when you receive the invitation letter from the council. Invitation letter may take up to 10 days after you receive the approval letter from HO.swlpak wrote:he guys, Can anybody give me information about the my question?...
what is the process to book an appointment for citzenship ceremony? by phone or u have to fill some kind of application form? i rang birmingham registrar office to ask about the next date for ceremony. i was told that i have to download some kind of form and fill it and send it to registrar office and then they will let me know about ceremony. is this the right process?
thank you and ferari bothrightmove wrote:@johnty, if u think your case is straight forward, i would suggest you do an official request for information first. dont sound it like a complaint. just mention as a matter of fact that you know people who applied much later than you and have got approval and you still have not received any answer from HO. offer to provide any more info if HO might not be able to verify (if they need some info to pick up the case).
i dont think they pick up or allocate cases at random. unless they have set no of people who specialise in a particular category and the caseworker who looks at european route of naturalisation is snowed in.
it is really late for your case not to have been picked by a case worker. so i will act rather than wait. but no do not react and send complaints etc. you know their line: "citizenship is a privilege, not right".
Write a letter demanding status and reason for delay. Offer help and send the letter certified. Citizenship may not be a right but going through the proper procedure fairly is your right. Don't worry too much about upsetting someone because of your questioning. As long as your are fair and not being rude, you should be fine. If you are not willing to assert your rights, then no point getting citizenship here.johnty wrote:thank you and ferari bothrightmove wrote:@johnty, if u think your case is straight forward, i would suggest you do an official request for information first. dont sound it like a complaint. just mention as a matter of fact that you know people who applied much later than you and have got approval and you still have not received any answer from HO. offer to provide any more info if HO might not be able to verify (if they need some info to pick up the case).

I have written an email that manchester address not sounding like complaint but asking why it is taking so long. But I do not think I would get any response as in the auto reply they say we only take complaints not to give any progress report etc.. and i might get a response within 28 days if we think there is something to answer
Anyway I might go and see my MP next week if I do not get any positive response in the meanwhile.. Just do not want to annoy them to make me wait forever on technicalities..
Congratulations Daigo. now rest is just a ridediago_nelson wrote:Dear friends,

@Bhumi, do you think HO deals with applications on first come first basis? I believe my application is straightforward but when I called them this morning I was told that my application has not been allocated to a case worker yet.Bhumi wrote:Hi looks like caseworkers have started dealing with march 3rd week applications now......i received my original documents by special delivery today.....also called HO just now and they said application is still under consideration and not yet made decision and may take 3-6 months.....
I guess since the documents have been returned, the application has been taken up by caseworker and they may taken copies of the documents and returned it back....this could be a process for postal applications....still eagerly waiting for brown envelope....lets see how long....
