Educational Qualification: Is NARIC Varification Manditory?

Post by ravi_amane » Tue Jul 18, 2006 6:17 pm

I am going to apply for HSMP. I have an Indian (IND) post graduate degree - Master of Computer Applications (MCA). I assume that the MCA degree is equivalent to master's degree in UK. Hence I am going to claim 25 points for the Masters qualification.

My question is - may I claim the 25 points and leave it up to the HSMP team to determine whether they can award me 25 points; or shall I explicitly get a certificate from the NARIC that MCA is equivalent to Master's and send that certificate along with the HSMP application? I am reluctant to go to NARIC unless absolutely needed because I have to pay for their service.

Also, is my assumption that MCA is equivalent to UK Master's true?

I don't feel there is any need to go to NARIC. HSMP team can decide that on the basis of your degree. I have not seen the case where somebody has to obtain a certificate from NARIC for his/her degree till the time it's not a private Institue.
Hope that helps!!

Thanks, this helps!

So, in your case, you didn't go to NARIC and you got the points you claimed?
