do I qualify for established presence? confused

Post by mmeehh » Thu Jun 16, 2011 7:25 am

My question is about if i qualify for established presence for reduced maintenance for extending my visa. When I booked the course it was called "6 months long", and when i applied for my visa I asked for 6 months study and this was given to me (with 2 months extra stay after my course finishes). My course was 6 x 4weeks, so a total of 24 weeks from January 17th to July 1st 2011. Does this qualify me for established presence?

I am confused if the 6 months needed for established presence is 6 calendar months, (17th january to 17th july) or 24 weeks, like I have studied. When I applied for my visa, the immigration officers accepted that my course of 24weeks was 6months long. But that was abroad, and i dont know about now!

Thank you

6 months is 6 calendar months not 6 x 4 weeks.

What was the start and end date of your course on your Cas?

I dont know about the CAS, on the Admission letter the college gave me it said 17th january to 1st july, but i dont know about the CAS. but the course was booked as "6months" Also, surely if it was less than 6months the immigration officer would only give me a few weeks after my course ended? I got 3 months after my course ended until my visa expired.

Did you get two extra months or three in your first post you said two and new you're saying two.
17th Jan -1st July is simply not 6 months. The fact that eco may have given you more leave than he should have doesn't make it 6 months.

You need to know what was on the Cas as this is the information they will look at when considering if you are an established student. Your college may have put a different end date on the Cas or perhaps an earlier start date if for example they had an induction week orientation week before your course started?. Obviously if you need to submit your certificate from your course with your new application - for example if your new Cas mentions that qualifications and the certificate /transcript refers to the start and end date as on the admissions letter then you'll have a problem.
