I believe all documents are scanned once the background/security checks are complete and then the application goes intot the queue to be allocated to a caseworker. We have to remember the people on the phone are not immigration officers, just a glorified call centre operators and they don't usually have an answer to most of the questions asked. They just follow protocol and give generic answers. I will not be suprised if you get your approval letter next week!

No No.. it doesn't work like that.
They scanned and load in their system and process payment at the same time. Once payment is done then they security check and then it goes to a case workers.

Any way called the payment office (thanks to Nazia 88) and they accepted the payment over telephone. Was told that now it will go to a case worker and might take 8-10 weeks for the final decision

Called them again today and was told that it is STILL in a queue to be allocated to a caseworker !!!!!!!

Rajesh, we still on the same page cause the query was mushfiq was told his/her application is awaiting allocation to caseworker but hasn't been scanned!!!!

For an application to be awaiting allocation to caseworker, it must have gone through security/background check, payment must have been taken and the documents must have been scanned into the system.

I presume both of you are right...process should be like: money first...

(20/05/11)...document scanned before it goes to any case worker...and finally CW decision. Anyway, I reckon HO call center operator's inadequacy has confused us.

Called Nationality Customer Contact Center today for the first time and was told that decision has been made and i should recieve letter in few days.

Fingers crossed

Recieved approval letter today dated 17th June. I must admit that i have the worst council (Greenwich). First you need to leave a message and they call you back after 48 hours. I was told that next ceremony is on 14th July and there is no provision of private ceremony. They also couldnt tell me that when the next ceremony would be as I will be probably in states that week.

Have been a 'lurker' of this forum for some time, thought I should join the conversation.

Here's my timeline:

Criteria: 5 year WP + 1 year ILR
Type: Solicitor
Date of submission...................27/05/2011
Date application received by UKBA....31/05/2011
Date of debit or credit card.........09/06/2011
Date of receipt of acknowledgement...14(or 15)/06/2011 (dated 09/06/2011)
Date of receipt of approval..........waiting

Also wanted to share some official data that could shed some light on possible processing time change since April:

It shows that the number of settlement granted every quarter through different route in the past years, which gives us a rough estimated number of eligible applicants for BC in 12 months time (mostly those through employment and family, I suppose..).

I also would like to suggest that we only call HO when necessary as this report indicates it might have impact on case workers:
