Here is my brief update to help other who have been waiting:

Applied 6/04/11, two applications, via NCS
Reached HO- 7/04/11
Acknowledgement letter dated 19/04, recd about 9-10 days later
Called HO only once, on 17/06, told decision was taken on 14/06, should hear in next 7 days
Emailed council- No certficates yet, they had some on Friday, they will let me know next week
No letter in the post yet.
Total time untill now:10 1/2 wks

Also wanted to share some official data that could shed some light on possible processing time change since April:

It shows that the number of settlement granted every quarter through different route in the past years, which gives us a rough estimated number of eligible applicants for BC in 12 months time (mostly those through employment and family, I suppose..).

I also would like to suggest that we only call HO when necessary as this report indicates it might have impact on case workers:

Congratulations sworld. What I can advice is that you call up your council and ask or beg them even if you can switch to another council for the ceremony. I'm thinking of doing the same when I get my approval!

I believe they only ask for additional information from postal applications, the reason for NCS is to make sure all informations are submitted at the biginging but I might be wrong. I also believe once an application have gone through the background/security check, there shouldn't be any reason to ask for more information.

Further update:

Here is my brief update to help other who have been waiting:

Applied 6/04/11, two applications, via NCS
Reached HO- 7/04/11
Acknowledgement letter dated 19/04, recd about 9-10 days later
Called HO only once, on 17/06, told decision was taken on 14/06, should hear in next 7 days
Emailed council- No certficates yet, they had some on Friday, they will let me know next week
No letter in the post yet.
Total time untill now:10 1/2 wks

Had not looked at todays post until now: Approval letters in the post

approvals seem to have slowed down (forum members) tremendously over past few days. Also number of applicants in June (forum members) seem to have gone down quite steeply.

I don't think it has slowed down at all. if you look at the good work by Osteophytes, you can see that the average rate of approval (based on the forum members experience) have come down from 70 days to about 55 days from March to May. also I think some of the June applicant will only be finding their way into this forum soon. having said that, I am in a similar mode to mego_1980. have a number of work related travel coming up. wanted to see if I can sort out everything by early Aug.

As far as I can see, you can only apply for passport after you have your nationality certificate in hand (i.e after ceremony). It might be possible to get thing sorted in about 40-45 days but my feeling is on top of a tidy application and supporting docs, you will also need a very good run of luck with the dates of approval, ceremony and passport interview etc. good luck.

Yes, you should be able to do that provided its been scanned into the system. Call HO and they will tell you, you can then travel on your passport while your application is being processed.

Thanks skr27 for your replay, sorry if my topic was not clear enough but I meant can I request my Egyptian passport while applying for BC as I have to go to Egypt in August and I don't think the HO will be able to finish my BC application before August based on the current timeline.
