Naturalisation: How do I prove I have been here 5 years???

Post by Captain_Brasiliano » Fri Sep 30, 2011 3:53 pm

Hello there,
my name is Yanko. I was born in Brasil and since I had a Portuguese grandfather, I got a Portuguese Citizenship and a Portuguese Passport to emigrate to the UK in 2006.

I now want to apply for British naturalisation, however I have to prove that I have lived in the UK for 5 years. How do I prove that? With a European passport I simply traveled into the UK and nobody stamped anything into my passport.

Anyway of proving that I have lived here for 5 years? I mean I have been here studying and working since April 2006!!!!

I need any help and information please

Cheers

A letter from university or P60 are good enough to show residence. You don't need to show residence for every single day during the 5 years. As long as your documents cover the 5 years, you will be fine.

Same goes for your days out of the UK, as you passport is not stamped, the UKBA will use your declared absences as true unless they have other evidence to suggest it is not.
