Hi! I am M.A. from university of the punjab,Lahore Pakistan. (Total sixteen years education). I have heard that M.A. from university of Punjab is considered only equal to Graduate level for HSMP! Is it true. Has any body experience about this?

Thank you very much Sajid and Mrs Khan for your earlier replies about M.A. What about PhD? As my PhD is going to be completed with in some months? Does PhD from Pakistan awarded 30 score for HSMP?

who says a british undergraduate degree is 4 years?? that's in USA.
the UK has 3 year bachelor's and 1 year master's degrees.
Sajid and Mrs Khan - i don't know where you got your info from, but I doubt it's accurate.

Dear Sac! Thanks for your reply also. But my questions is unanswered that whether M.A. from Pakistan (sixteen years education)
will be of worth 25 marks(Masters) or only 15 (graduation level) score?
If you have some experience, pl share with us.

I think if you send it to NARIC they can tell you accurate. If they say it is equivalent to UK master then you will be awarded with 25 points but if they say it is equivalent to Bachelor they you will be awarded with 15 points.

Dear Mr SAC
If you carefully read my comments you will find that i Stated
FOR PAKISTANI MA THE POINTS ARE AWARDED WHICH IS FOR UK BACHELROS.
i didn't stated whether UK bachelor is of four years or etc
I still insist the pakistani Masters are likely to get bachelor (15) points if they presented their case well if not they can get 0 for their education. This is based on my practicle experience. I have done Masters from Pakistan and i got 15 points for that because i presented a British Council Equavalency charts and a certificate from Higher education Commission from Pakistan. i didnot submitt any NARIC assesment.
SAC for your information let me explain the system
UK Master is a total of 17 years studies while Pakistan master is a total of 16 years so if anyone from pakistan do a MPHIL which is 17-18 years then they can get a points for UK masters which is 25 but NARIC certificate is more authentic for HSMP case workers so i would recommend obtaining a certificate from NARIC will definetly help.

Mr SAC
first of all 17 year of education is a master in uk and in pakistan thier is a different level like 4 year bachelor equal to 16 year education accepted(15 marks awarded)
2 year bachelor with two year master equal to 16 year education accepted (marks will be awarded 15)
4 year bachelor Plus one year master equal to 17 year of education (marks will be awarded 25 ) , so now i think this is clear.

Mrs Khan ,Sajid and SAC!
It has taken lot of discussion about M.A. Would any body be kind enough to let me know what about PhD from Pakistan? (20 years education). Is this worth 30 scores or not?
Moreover Mrs Khan from where you got British Council Equavalency charts ? If you have that still in your possession pl, confirm the level of Phd from there?
More over I have read an interesting question of Shazia on board. pl. read that also.

Mr Bhatti
Check this out
http://www.educationuk.org/pk/
I would advise you to write to NARIC and get an assesment certificate from them which would carry much weight and authenticity rather only sending this chart.

very nice information from all.
i want to ask tht is it necessary tht bachelor nd master should both be in the same field/course or it can be different ? like if someone have his graduation in Arts( BA 2 years) but Master n computer science(2 years) frm Alkhair Univ then will he be able to get 15 points or not?
second is there need to send degrees nd transciprts of both (Graduation and master) or only Master's is enough ??
plz must reply abt it.
thanks

I think it is not essential that you should hold a BA & MA degree in same discipline or subject. i would advise to send both BA and MA transcript / degrees.
You will be able to score 15 points when you proof that you have done a 15 years study and degrees / transcripts are one of strong documentary evidence.

The BA degree from Paksitan doesn't show its subjects!!! How will they know about ur BA subjects? BY the way it doesn't make any difference if ur BA and MA are different.

According to you, 15 year education gets 15 marks. It means B.Ed degree from Paksitan gets 15 marks. Do u confirm it? What is the source of ur information?
Thanks

I am taking it from a case worker point of view.
In UK 15 year study is considered as NVQ 4/ First Degree Professional qualification - BA/BSC/CACA/ CSA.
So even if some one completes a 16 years study from Pakistan ( MA/ MSC) they fall into this category of Graduate level. I am not sure about
B.Ed but if its comprises a total of 15 years than one should be entitled to get 15 points as its equavalent to UK bachelors

Mrs Khan!
What about if a person completes M.A. in two different, but closely related, subjects? As a person is Master in information science and then he completes MSC?
